WOMEN'S SERVICES
The Women's component of the Impact program focuses upon problems and issues that demand sensitivity to the distinct treatment requirements of women in recovery. Issues of concern include:
- Female abuse issues
- Self-esteem
- Sexism
- Powerlessness
- Family
- Assertiveness
All Impact programs involve daily NA/AA meetings, medical and psychological evaluation, treatment planning, group and individual counseling, family intervention, urinalysis testing, vocational counseling, recreation, and discharge planning. All activities are expressly related to women in recovery in the 12-Step context.
- WOMEN'S SUPPORT GROUP: "Here and now" problems are dealt with in an interactive format addressing issues of powerlessness, relationships, family, and female abuse issues.
- WOMEN'S WORKSHOP: An educational focus wherein the causes and consequences of sexism are addressed with their implications for daily living. Assertiveness, self-esteem, and communication are also taught.
- FAMILY SESSIONS: Client and family are involved in examining the dysfunctional family system and restructuring family dynamics. Involvement with Al-anon, Family Anonymous, and Al-Ateen are promoted.
- FAMILY GROUP: Families, or significant others, address co-dependency issues and receive mutual support from other families, hence providing education and insight.
In addition to weekly individual sessions with an assigned caseworker, individual sessions with the Women's Therapist are conducted on an as-needed or as-requested basis.
